From Kappa Festival on to Tomorrowland – definitely a highlight of my calendar! Coming back with the great team from Pioneer after having the pleasure of photographing the event with them last year, I knew a little more of what I was in for – a hell of a lot of running around, picking my jaw off the floor and being blown away by pretty much everything!
Tomorrowland is probably one of the most legendary events around today, renowned for incredible production like no where else on earth, full on line ups with the best of the best and some of the most up for it, friendly crowds I’ve ever had the opportunity to shoot.
If you’ve never been to Tomorrowland before, probably the easiest comparison to make is a dance music version of Glastonbury – it’s basically a town that pops up purely to enjoy music for a few days, the work that goes into the set up and planning is mind-blowing but oh so worth it! During the event I managed to dash around to capture the likes of Carl Cox, Claptone, Nevro, Kolsch, Solardo, Partick Topping, Black Coffee, Anna, Ida Engberg plus loads more!
For a photographer, having a backdrop like that of a festival such as Tomorrowland is like being a kid in a candy store. All of the amazing lighting, the themes, the costumes the crowds and dancers dress up in and how all this adds up to the DJs literally bouncing off the vibe makes for some pretty special images at the end of it.
I definitely would love to return next year and if I get the chance I will be packing – a sweatband. blister plasters, energy bars and a clone of myself! Thanks Tomorrowland, you were epic.
