Sasha – re-Fracted (live) – The Barbican Centre – London

I get excited about photographing live gigs, always have and I suspect I always will. The buzz you get being in the hub of an event, given the ability to capture the life and soul of it, it’s a truly privileged place to be. This event was extra special though…

Throw in the mix one of my all time heroes, an iconic building, a one off amazing event and commissioned as the only photographer at the Saturday event? Um, jackpot!

Sasha’s first ever live shows were eagerly anticipated, people have been on the edge of their seats to see what this dance music legend would conjure up knowing he’s never been a man to disappoint. He’s taken on a lot though, set the bar high… would he deliver?

If we’re honest, there really was never any doubt and at The Barbican Centre, to a capacity crowed, Sasha totted up yet another iconic moment in the history of dance music.

You’ll see by the images below that a hell of a lot went into this show, alongside a hell of a lot of kit too! The collaboration of all these talented individuals amassed this energy I’ve rarely witnessed before. By the time the doors opened and the gig kicked off, it turned into one of my most memorable nights and I’m sure I speak for the whole of the crowd too!

Sasha performed tracks from his Scene Delete album and finished on an amazing version of Xpander – If my camera blew up tomorrow I’d retire a happy photographer! Although saying that… this has just given me passion for more, more more!
